Each year, hundreds of Motorsport Australia and Motorcycling Australia officials give up their time to help the Australian Grand Prix Corporation deliver two world-class events, the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
This week marks National Volunteers Week, a chance to acknowledge and thank the 1533 volunteers who help to deliver these events year after year.
A team of 953 officials volunteered at the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2020 and 580 at the Pramac Generac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2019, undertaking a variety of roles including marshal services, race control, boundary riders and many more.
This year the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 was awarded the Virgin Australia Best Volunteer Group at the Supercars Gala, highlighting the extraordinary effort of the events volunteer teams.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation General Manager - Motorsport, Entertainment and Industry, Craig Fletcher, says volunteers are the backbone of motorsport events around the world.
“Our incredible and talented volunteers play an integral role to help us deliver two world-class and memorable events year after year,” Mr Fletcher said.
“These events wouldn’t happen without their continued support and contributions, we would like to thank them for their ongoing dedication and commitment to motorsport.”
