Thursday, 22 August 2024
The Australian driver is feeling fit, healthy, and ready to build on the momentum gained before the hiatus.
Daniel Ricciardo returns to Zandvoort with renewed energy and optimism as Formula 1® resumes after the summer break.
Ricciardo's last outing at the Dutch circuit took an unexpected turn, but he's not letting that dampen his spirits. "Obviously last year it's where my year turned upside down, but until the accident with Oscar, I was really enjoying the circuit," he reflects. This time around, he's determined to make the most of the challenging track layout and continue his team's recent upward trajectory.

The break provided Ricciardo with a welcome opportunity to reconnect with his roots. "I got back to Australia to see some friends and family, so I'm feeling recharged," he shares. This brief homecoming seems to have reinvigorated the Aussie, who's now eager to translate that positive energy into on-track performance.
Ricciardo's confidence is palpable as he looks ahead to the race weekend. "I'm confident we can continue where we left off before the break, our momentum was strong and we're definitely in the fight for some points," he asserts. This optimism isn't unfounded, given the team's recent form and the driver's growing comfort with the car.
Zandvoort presents a unique challenge with its tight, twisty layout and banked corners. Technical Director Jody Egginton describes it as a "testing 'Old School' circuit" that will "punish even the smallest of errors." This puts a premium on precision driving and a well-set-up car, areas where Ricciardo's experience could prove invaluable.
The team arrives at Zandvoort with a solid baseline and minor updates, aiming to continue their fight towards the front of the midfield. Egginton emphasises the importance of qualifying well on this track, where overtaking can be tricky. "We expect a tough fight with our closest competitors for points," he adds, setting the stage for an intense battle.
Ricciardo's teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, shares the Australian's enthusiasm for the upcoming race. Both drivers are keen to maintain the team's momentum and push for points in what promises to be a fiercely competitive second half of the season.
As the F1® circus descends on the Dutch coast, all eyes will be on Ricciardo to see if he can translate his renewed energy and positivity into a strong result. The Aussie's trademark smile is back, and he's ready to tackle Zandvoort's challenges head-on.
