Ricciardo finishes outside the points in Monaco

The honey badger has work to do.
Daniel Ricciardo’s tough season continued at the Monaco Grand Prix after only being able to make up one place from a disappointing Qualifying.
With the Monaco circuit notorious for its lack of overtaking capabilities, the Australian’s P14 in Qualifying was always going to be a problem.
A mix of wet and dry conditions didn’t add to the simplicity of the circuit, although it did have the ability to mix up the race.
After getting off the line and making up a place from Pierre Gasly, Ricciardo went on to finish P13.
After the race, Ricciardo said: “We knew today was going to be tough, obviously being Monaco, results are heavily based on qualifying so yesterday really shaped the weekend.”
“I think when we saw the rain come that was quite a surprise, just how quickly and heavy it came.”
“We thought maybe there was some opportunity there – but yeah, obviously everyone kind of ended up filling into similar strategies.”
“In any case, we ultimately just weren’t quick enough this weekend. So not much more to say.”
Naturally, the rumours surrounding Ricciardo’s future at McLaren have increased over the past few weeks, so the Aussie will be looking to have a strong performance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in a few weeks time.
