Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup join massive on-track line up

Tuesday, 7 March 2023

The Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup will launch its 2023 season at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, with round one scheduled to kick off a jam-packed Thursday at the FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2023.

With F2® and F3® joining F1® on the grid for the first time in Australia’s Grand Prix history, and the Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercars Championships returning in 2023, there will be no shortage of on-track action come March 30.

The Carrera Cup will see 30 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars take to the grid, with practice sessions, qualifying and the first official race all locked in for day one.

All ticketholders walking through the gates will also have the chance to get up close to the Porsche teams, with the garages accessible for fans to see the behind-the-scenes action on each day of the event.

Graduating from the Michelin Sprint Challenge to the Carrera Cup Championship in 2023, Porsche Centre Melbourne and BWT driver Courtney Prince is excited to drive her home track for the very first time after growing up attending the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix as a fan.

In addition to Prince, racegoers will also get to see the familiar Quinn name return to the Carrera Cup, with 17-year-old Ryder Quinn making his debut at Albert Park. The series’ first third-generation driver, Quinn, follows his father and grandfather, who have each raced in the Championship since the first season in 2003.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation Division Manager of Motorsport David Corrigan welcomed Porsche Carrera Cup back to Albert Park.

“We have the Porsche Carrera Cup back in 2023 at Albert Park, they’ll kick off on Thursday with an afternoon race, and we have a full grid of 30 cars which is going to look fantastic," Corrigan said.

"The cars are cool, their garages and paddocks are accessible with a GA ticket across all four days, so come on down and check them out.”

BWT Driver Courtney Prince is excited to drive at Albert Park.

“I’m super excited to take on this year in the Carrera Cup, it’s a big step up from the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge but I’m up for it and very excited to hit the track. I’ve always come to Albert Park just to watch so I’m stoked to be able to race, especially in these cars, I honestly can’t wait for round one,” Prince said.

“On Thursday we have a practice, qualifying and a race which is quite jam-packed for us drivers, but I think the Thursday is an awesome day for everyone to come out and see on probably a less busy day, to be able to get close and personal with the cars and teams.”

Park Passes (GA) and Grandstand tickets provide fans the best chance to get involved with all the FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2023 has to offer. Thursday and Friday tickets are still available.
