The young Aussie is riding high on momentum

Fresh off his second Grand Prix victory, Oscar Piastri is gearing up for another thrilling street circuit challenge at the Singapore Grand Prix. The young Aussie is riding high on momentum as he and McLaren head to the dazzling night race leading the Constructors' Championship.

Piastri's stunning performance in Baku, where he pulled off one of the season's most impressive overtakes on Charles Leclerc, has propelled him into the spotlight. Now, he faces the unique test of the Marina Bay Circuit, a track renowned for its physical demands and spectacular setting.

The Singapore Grand Prix, first held in 2008, presents a gruelling challenge for drivers. With temperatures inside the car reaching up to 60 degrees Celsius and humidity levels as high as 80%, drivers can lose up to 3kg in body weight during the race. The 4.94km circuit, featuring 62 laps, winds through the city's iconic landmarks, including the Anderson Bridge and the Singapore Flyer observation wheel.

Despite the demanding conditions, Piastri is approaching the race with confidence. "After an incredible weekend securing my second Grand Prix win, I'm ready to go for it again in Singapore," he said. "It's a shorter circuit but an incredibly demanding one for the drivers. We have a good rhythm going in the team, and we now have to keep adding as many points as possible."

Tickets to the FORMULA 1® AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2025 go on sale on October 8th. Explore what's on offer.

The Marina Bay Circuit has undergone changes for the 2024 season, with a new DRS zone added between Turns 14 and 16, potentially offering more overtaking opportunities. This addition complements the existing prime overtaking spot at Turn 7, which follows a DRS zone and two flat-out corners.

Piastri's teammate, Lando Norris, is equally enthusiastic about the team's prospects. "It feels good going into this race knowing we're currently first in the Constructors' Championship," Norris commented. "The team have done and keep doing an excellent job. We know we now need to keep working hard and delivering consistent results."

Team Principal Andrea Stella emphasized the importance of maintaining their momentum: "We go into this weekend leading the Constructors' Championship, but we must now work hard to keep hold of this position. We are encouraged by our performance, and ready for the next seven races."

As the Formula 1® circus descends upon Singapore, all eyes will be on Piastri and McLaren to see if they can continue their winning ways under the bright lights of Marina Bay.
