Oscar Piastri is your FIA Formula 2 Championship™️ winner

Monday, 13 December 2021

Including four Feature Race wins in a row.

You couldn’t have scripted the final race of Oscar Piastri’s Formula 2® career any better than having a win in the Feature Race on Sunday.

The Championship winner had secured a big enough lead the day before in Sprint Race 1 to take out the title. However, that didn’t stop him from approaching his last race any different to what you would expect from a driver of his calibre.

The 20-year-old completed a historic hat-trick at the Yas Marina Circuit. His F2® title added to his Formula 3® title in 2020 and the 2019 Formula Renault trophy.

The victory in the final Feature Race of the season made it four of these in a row and six wins for the season.

“The final race of F2 for the year is done, and we managed to win the race, which is fantastic. It is a great way to end the year and a great way to end my junior career,” said Piastri.

Friday Grandstand tickets for the Formula 1®️ Australian Grand Prix 2022 are available from $91. Get them before they sell out.

“Thank you to everyone for your support and for all of your messages after winning the Championship. I have still got thousands unopened. It was very good to end the season on a high. I’ll hopefully see you at some point on a grid in the future.”

Piastri ends the season with 252.5 points, ahead of runner-up Shwartzman on 192 and Zhou on 183. Ticktum finishes fourth with 159.5 points, with Pourchaire fifth on 140.

PREMA Racing finishes the year with 444.5 points in the Teams’ Championship. UNI-Virtuosi are Vice-Champions on 288. Carlin drop to third with 272.5, with Hitech fourth on 223 and ART Grand Prix fifth with 190.

Piastri will be making his Formula 1® drive debut in the post-season test this week.
