Friday, 13 September 2024

The Australian driver is ready to tackle the fiery streets of Azerbaijan.

Christian Mansell is set to make his Formula 2® debut this weekend, stepping into the Trident seat for the challenging Baku street circuit. The Australian driver, fresh from an impressive Formula 3® campaign, is ready to tackle the fiery streets of Azerbaijan in what promises to be an exciting entry into F2®.

Mansell's rise through the ranks has been nothing short of impressive. With a strong showing in the 2024 Formula 3® season, where he secured five podium finishes and fifth place in the Drivers' Championship, he's proven his mettle on the track. His success isn't limited to F3®, though. Mansell's third-place finishes in both the 2021 GB3 Championship and 2022 Euroformula Open Championship showcase his consistent performances across different racing series.

The young Aussie is no stranger to F2® machinery, having participated in the 2023 post-season testing with Trident at Yas Marina. This experience should prove invaluable as he prepares for his debut on one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.

Mansell's excitement is palpable as he prepares for this new challenge. "I can't wait to make my FIA Formula 2 debut with Trident Motorsport," he enthused. "I'm extremely happy to race with this Italian team on the Baku street circuit and in the next two events before the end of the season. It will be a fiery debut on a challenging track like the Azerbaijani one, but I must confess I'm more excited than nervous."

Trident Team Manager Giacomo Ricci shares Mansell's optimism, praising the young driver's talents. "Christian is a complete driver, quick in qualifying, and extremely good at managing tyres and overtaking," Ricci stated. He acknowledged the ambitious nature of debuting in Baku but expressed confidence in their preparation. "We have carried out dedicated preparation work with him, and I am convinced that it will pay dividends, especially if there will be no interruptions in the free practice session."

The Baku City Circuit is known for its mix of high-speed straights and tight corners, presenting a unique challenge for even the most experienced drivers. For Mansell, it's a baptism of fire, but one that could set the tone for his F2® career.

As the F2® grid prepares to take on the streets of Baku, all eyes will be on Mansell as he aims to make his mark in this highly competitive championship. With his proven track record and the backing of Trident, the stage is set for what could be a thrilling debut performance.
