The Australian gave the local crowd a show.
Jack Doohan has given Australia a perfect start in Formula 2®, topping the charts in Practice this morning.
Doohan set the fastest time of 1:28.989, three-tenths up on his nearest competitor.
The Invicta Virtuosi Racing driver was one of the first on track and spent almost the entirety of the session in the top spot, finding improvements lap after lap.
The crowd didn’t need to wait long to experience the uncertainty that F2® usually brings, with Roy Nissany bringing out a Red Flag following a spin.
Another Red Flag following another spin at the final corner followed, this time Jehan Daruvala the one facing the wrong way.
The green light was back on with just over 10 minutes to go, and everyone was keen to log some more laps ahead of Qualifying. Home favourite Doohan was immediately on the pace and went to the top on a 1:30.132.
The Australian was looking quick as the clock ticked towards the chequered flag and he was the first into the 1:29s. That was beaten one lap later as he moved onto a 1.28.989 to end the session quickest of all.
Formula 2® is back on track for Qualifying at 5:30 PM local time this afternoon.
