Jack Doohan, son of legendary motorcycle racer Mick Doohan, started his racing career in karts and quickly proved his talent.
He then transitioned to single-seaters, competing in the F4 British Championship and the Euroformula Open Championship.
In 2020, he stepped up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship. His debut season with HWA Racelab was tough, and he did not manage to score any points during the campaign.
In 2021, Jack switched to Trident for his second season of F3®. He claimed four victories and seven podiums to finish the season in second place in the championship.
2022 marked Doohan's move to the FIA Formula 2 Championship, the final stepping stone to F1®.
His rookie season was marked by a mix of highs and lows, to improve in his second season in the category.
The 2023 season featured significant highs, including a strong run home culminating with a pole position and a third and final victory in Abu Dhabi.
He signed off his tenure in F2® at the conclusion of the 2023 season, finishing third in the championship.
Whilst competing in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 championships, the Alpine F1 Team recognised Doohan's talent and signed him as their reserve driver.
This role provided invaluable experience, allowing him to work closely with the team, participate in simulator sessions, and attend Grand Prix weekends.
Doohan also drove the Alpine F1® car several times, including during the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
Jack expressed his gratitude to the team for their confidence in him: “I am so happy to secure promotion into a full-time race seat in 2025 with BWT Alpine F1 Team," he said.
"I am very grateful for the trust and belief by the team’s senior management."
"There is so much work ahead to be prepared and ready and I will give my best in the meantime to absorb as much information and knowledge to be ready for the step up."
It’s exceptionally satisfying to be the first graduate of the Alpine Academy to be in a race seat with the team and I’m extremely thankful to those who supported me along the way to make this a reality."
"It's an exciting moment, a proud day for my family, and I look forward to taking it all in and pushing hard behind the scenes.”
Jack's promotion to full-time driver in 2025 is even more special as his debut coincides with Australia opening the 2025 FIA Formula One™ season.
