After taking his first F2® podium last weekend in Spain, Jack Doohan made it abundantly clear he’s looking to make the leap to Formula 1® next year.
The start of the season has been a mixed bag for the Aussie, with some mistakes and bad luck costing him potential shots at victories.
He’s already secured two impressive pole positions, showing the immense talent and speed that he possesses.
If he can string everything together in the second half of the season, it looks like only a matter of time until he takes multiple wins.
“Hopefully this is a start to my bid for the title,” Doohan told Speedcafe.
“I’m definitely not looking for another season in Formula 2.
“The goal isn’t to do two years (in the F2® Championship) but if it came to that, then so be it.
“For now, I’m focusing on performing here and now, and hopefully we can be in a good position at the end of the year to contend for the top spot.”
As it stands, Doohan is currently 56 points off series leader Felipe Drugovich.
The hunt for 2023 F1® seats will be extremely competitive, with fellow Alpine Academy driver Oscar Piastri also looking for a drive.
