Could Ricciardo be on for a Supercars cameo?

Wednesday, 16 December 2020

A new link to Supercars could see him feature at Bathurst.

Australian Formula 1® star Daniel Ricciardo has given his biggest hint that a supercars cameo could be on the cards after speaking with the In the Fast Lane podcast.

Ricciardo will join McLaren in 2021, a team run by charismatic CEO Zak Brown - who happens to have a direct link to the Walkinshaw Andretti United team as a part-owner.

The Australian was asked if he would be interested in driving a Formula 1® car around the famous Bathurst circuit.

"Yes, if they raised the ride height, yes, absolutely," said Ricciardo.

"I've already had some conversations about Bathurst with him, actually,

"Working on it, working on it!"

It is not the first time a Ricciardo entry for the Bathurst 1000 has been floated, as Brown proposed the idea of a McLaren team entry much earlier in the year.

“I think they’d both love to do it,” Brown told Supercars Sidetracked.

“I think it’ll just come down to schedule and whether they can fit it in the schedule. Bathurst, historically, conflicts with Japan – that's why sometimes I'm there and sometimes I'm not.

“I’d love to see them do it there."

Ricciardo will make his official McLaren race debut at the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix 2021, to register your interest follow this link.
