Tuesday, 29 November 2022

The Australian will race for Campos Racing.

The FIA Formula 3® will welcome Australian Christian Mansell to the grid in 2023.

The New South Wales-born driver announced overnight that he would make his full-time debut for Campos Racing next year.

Mansell had the opportunity to drive an F3® car in the final two rounds of the 2022 season when he stepped into the Charouz Racing System team’s car for Budapest and Spa-Francorchamps.

“To be joining Campos for FIA F3 in 2023 is such an incredible honour and achievement,” said Mansell.

“With a strong showing in the latter part of the season it gives me confidence I can do well in my opening year in FIA F3. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!”

Mansell also participated in the post-season test for Campos Racing, with the highest finish of 10th in one of the sessions.

The Australian driver made his start in karting before moving to single-seaters in 2019. He spent time in the New South Wales Formula Race Car Championship and the Australian Formula 4 Championship.

Moving to Europe in 2020, Mansell competed in the British Formula 4 competition, securing a win and five additional podiums. Last year he moved to the GB3 Championship with two wins and five podiums – claiming third in the championship.

Arguably his best season to date came this year when he competed in Euroformula. After three victories and 12 additional podiums, Mansell finished third overall.

Team Principal of Campos Racing, Adrian Campos said: “I would like to extend a warm welcome to Christian (Mansell) on behalf of Campos Racing.”

“It will be a huge challenge for him as it will be his rookie season in the FIA Formula 3, which is an extremely competitive racing series. His previous results, a race winner in other championships, explain why he is a talented driver.”

Christian will head to Australia in Round 3 when the FIA Formula 3® competition heads to the Melbourne Grand Prix™ for the first time in its history.
