Australian Oscar Piastri's has signed on to be a reserve driver for the Alpine F1® team in 2022, Prost discusses the 20-year-old’s success so far and his laid-back attitude.
“I’ve followed Oscar for many years… winning as a Rookie the first championship, three times in a row is exceptional, there’s not many drivers that can do that but more than anything…he’s relaxed, he’s good, you can feel it’s his life, he knows what he’s doing and he knows what he has to do in the future,” Prost said.
Prost also had a very close relationship with Ricciardo, saying the Aussie’s time with Renault had both positives and negatives, but that he had expected Ricciardo to perform better than he has at McLaren.
“I think there are two ways of looking at it, I’ve very close with the drivers… and with Daniel there was a very big connection. Honestly, the results were not exactly what you can accept even with a good end to the season.
But with Daniel it was also fantastic for the team, it was a dream the ambience, never complaining, he was very clear, it was very good,” he continued.
“I was expecting him to be much quicker in the McLaren than Lando.”
