Hulkenberg hadn’t raced full-time for three years when Haas came calling for 2023; last year, 11 Q3 appearances, 10 points finishes and 41 points represented his best season since 2018, the year before Daniel Ricciardo joined him at Renault.
As a consequence, a call came from Audi, who wanted him to be part of something bigger and with a long runway. Hulkenberg may be 37, but he’s returning to the team he drove for in 2013 as arguably the best version of himself yet, a career pause reinvigorating him and making him a coveted asset.
