The Lotus 18’s were a ground breaking design and changed motor racing forever with their super lightweight construction.
This car was the most successful of the three Lotus 18s imported to Australia by dealer and racer Derek Jolly in 1960.
The original owner Jack Hunnam won the Sandown Cup in 1962 then sold the car to Rocky Tresize who went on to win his class in the Victorian Road racing Championship.
Australian F1 driver Tim Schenken then bought it and ran 3rd running it as Formula Ford in the Australian Championship.
Subsequently the car won two Victorian F2 Championships and the current owner, Kim Shearn, won the Historic Formula Junior Championship in 2009.
Kim went on to race the car internationally in Europe, New Zealand and South Africa, achieving numerous class victories.
