This car is a Lola T340 made in 1973. Originally a Formula Ford classification, the car was owned by Carl Haas the Lola importer for its first 2 years.
Haas also owned the Haas Lola Formula 1 team in the eighties, Alan Jones drove for him. In 1978 the car was taken to Asia in Formula 2 configuration and raced in the Macau GP.
Apparently the driver was a novice and didn’t finish the race – the regulations were a little less stringent back then!
The car also competed in a few races in the Philippines and was then shipped back to the USA where it was changed back to Formula Ford configuration.
The car raced extensively in SCCA in the states and won a regional championship around 2000.
The car was eventually purchased by a Tasmanian and imported to Australia about 10 years ago.
The current owner has had it since 2017 and has raced it regularly at Noosa Hillclimb, Morgan Park and Phillip Island.
