This vehicle is chassis number FJ621 and was the 3rd Elfin Formula Junior built, delivered in January of 1962 to Roy Morris with a 1100cc Coventry Climax engine fitted.
The engine was replaced with a Ford Anglia motor in 1963 and contested the Victorian Formula Junior Championship driven by Tony Reynolds.
It was later fitted with a 1340cc Ford Consul, then a 1500cc Ford Cortina over several owners. Campaigned in Group O Historics for 20 years by South Australian, Derry Greeneklee.
It was purchased by current owner Bill Hemming in 2007 and restored to its 1963 Ford 1100cc Group M specifications to contest the 2008 Formula Junior 50th Anniversary series in Australia, New Zealand, the USA, and South Africa.
Driver Abby Wingett is just 23 years old and owns several race cars as well as guest driving for Bill Hemming.
Abby is a member of the Victorian Historic Racing Register (VHRR), the Elfin Drivers and Owners Club, and the Hyundai Excel Racing Association.
She has been competing and racing cars since the age of 16 and has raced in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. Abby has competed in hillclimbs and circuit racing in both enduro and sprint formats.
