Will Davison to trade V8 Supercar for F1 car at Bathurst

V8 Supercars star Will Davison will drive the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix Swisse Two-Seater at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 this October, taking V8 Supercars commentator Mark Beretta for a hot lap.

Davison will return to his open-wheeler roots and become the first person to lap Mount Panorama in the Minardi F1 car for the weekend on Thursday, before handing the reins back to regular driver Zsolt Baumgartner.

Lewis leads as Nico's campaign stall

In sport, momentum is everything – and Lewis Hamilton has it right now after claiming his second successive win and his seventh of 2014 in Singapore to vault into the World Championship lead.

There was drama before the start of the 61-lap race – eventually reduced to 60 by the two-hour rule – when Rosberg’s Mercedes failed to get away from the dummy grid.

Silver Arrows out to stop Red Bull four-in-a-row

There is only one team in the running for the Constructors’ World Championship this season – but for the last three years there has only been one team and driver in the running in Singapore, where the 14th round of the 2014 series takes place this weekend.

Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Renault have won every race in the Lion City since 2011 – but how times change. The World Champion has yet to post a victory this season, in fact he has only been on the podium twice, so if Red Bull want someone to stop the Mercedes charge it should probably be Dan Ricciardo they look to.

Formula 1 to ignite Bathurst 1000

V8 Supercars and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) will make history by giving fans the experience of a lifetime when two of the pinnacles of motorsport – a Formula One car and Mount Panorama – are brought together.

The joint initiative will give the V8 faithful at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 a taste of what to expect at the 2015 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne next March, where V8 Supercars and Formula One will again share the track.

STYLISH LEWIS STEALS SEVEN POINTS BACK

Lewis Hamilton kept the 2014 drivers’ title fight well and truly alive with one of his most stylish performances in another dominant weekend for his Mercedes team at the Italian Grand Prix on the hallowed ground of Monza.

For a few seconds it looked as if Hamilton had lost all the advantage his electrifying qualifying performance – he took his fifth pole of 2014, but his first since Spain in round five – when a software glitch saw him beaten off the line by teammate Nico Rosberg, the Williams of Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen’s McLaren.

‘COOL, VERY COOL’: TWO IN A ROW FOR DAN THE MAN

Australian Daniel Ricciardo won round 12 of the 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship in a Red Bull Renault over 44 laps of the magnificent Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

Ricciardo bracketed the mid-season break with wins in Hungary and now at Spa, a track where Red Bull drastically reduced the RB9’s downforce levels to give it some hope of matching the Mercedes pace – and it worked.
